Making of Keychains with INTENT

We were approached by a prolific writer who is also quite popular on twitter, Efo Dela to create a surprise for his bride on their wedding day. Luckily we had some time to play on this one – 2 months. So we played with toy rubber just a little!

After receiving as many reference images as possible of the couple, we set out to develop moots of the possible concepts we could use for the keychains. We sent 3 concept sketches to the client and after a week the 2nd concept was approved and we set to work.

With an immensely talented team, we developed a set of poses and facial expressions to clearly capture the joy of the moment. Art lies in the integration. So we settled on the look in which the lady looks clearly surprised that she’s getting married and the guy strongly asserting that ‘she’s mine!’

The whole image creation process took close to 1 month including feedback and iterations. 

The lady’s likeness was particularly challenging. We experimented with a smile, a wide eye expression, nasolabial depth. We even had to discard some creases as she was beginning to feel a little bit old. After a series of iterations we distilled elements of her true likeness: an image of her in a cap, her spectacles on quite some cheeks and a very tight upper lip. That was it!
